Hi guys, of course we'd love magnolia cms to be usable with multiple jcr implementations (jackrabbit, modshape, oak) but unfortunately this turned out to be not as easy as one might guess. There's no plans to tackle modshape (or oak) support for 5.4 (https://wiki.magnolia-cms.com/display/DEV/Magnolia+5.4+roadmap). The roadmap for 5.5 isn't defined yet.
