Hey Tom Since 5.1 you actually don't need to provide a basename anymore. Messages for apps and everything around them (actions, ...) are now stored in a folder under src/main/resources/mgnl-i18n [1]. The keys are resolved automatically too, so you don't even need to specify them in the configuration (*.icon, *.label, *.description)
Have a look at the docu on how to make a module translatable [2], this also contains the necessary info on how to find these automatic keys. Please note that everything templating-related (dialogs for components, i18n keys in scripts, names of templates etc) are still working "the old way" with the i18nBasename configuration.
