Dear all,
Magnolia is now working like a charm :-) Thanks a lot for all your
valuable inputs! It turns out that the problem was a combination of:
1. My server was configured with a RAM disk (tmpfs) for /tmp. While I
never had problems with this before, either the size was too small
(100 MB) or Java has problem with that. Here was the fstab entry:
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs size=100m,mode=1777
2. To have tried to fix the problem without starting again with an
empty repository and unziping the whole thing again.
3. The use of a 1.5 VM. I now use 1.4.2_08...
In summary, I think the key problem (1) was very much related to my
particular installation. Problems (2) and (3) would have been way
easier to spot if it did not occur. It is always very hard to debug
problems with multiple causes, and all your responses have been
invaluable to resolve the issue.
