Hi All,

First of all, congratulations for the Magnolia 3.0
release! I've been following Magnolia since 2.0, and I
am glad to say that I found it intuitive to use and
build.

I have a question, or suggestion of a web framework to
look at in future version of Magnolia (version 3,5?).
This is something that probably have already been
discussed, and looking at the Jira entry the
conclusion to use JSF has been decided. Considering
this, I hope no one will be too offended my
suggestion.

I don't know whether the work on refactoring Magnolia
w/ JSF+Facelets has started, but I'd like to recommend
the Magnolia developers to at least take a quick look
at Webwork. Here are the reasons why:

1. Webwork is simple to work with and simple to
understand

2. It has built in support for integration with Spring

3. Comes with built in support for JSR-168 portlet
http://wiki.opensymphony.com/display/WW/Portlet+Tutorial
http://wiki.opensymphony.com/display/WW/Portlet+Configuration

4. There is merger between Webwork and Struts Action 2
project - hence if Struts Action 2 becomes the
de-facto standard, Webwork will become the de-facto
standard as well.

5. It has integration with JSF
(http://jroller.com/page/mrdon?entry=unification_struts_action_and_jsf).

I know this is in the early still early stage, but the
integration has been done by Mr. Don Brown who is one
of the committer in Struts Action 2 project.

I have worked with MyFaces JSF on top of JSP before,
but I have never deployed something into production
with JSF. I am by no means expert, but I can tell that
with JSF the XML configuration becomes too verbose and
unwieldy very quickly. The integration will solve this
problem.

There is also tons of other good reasons:
1. It comes with a good set of HTML form taglib with
AJAX support included

2. Supports various View: JSP, Velocity, Freemarker,
JSF, JasperReports (PDF and XLS)

There! I've said a lot. Hopefully I've raised some
curiosity at least :)

Cheers,

Felix
