The fckEditor as it is delivered/configured with Magnolia 3.0 RC 2
has three buttons for pasting: paste, paste as plaintext, paste from
word. But they don't seem to work for us:
- On PC with Internet Explorer: All three of them paste text WITH
formatting.
- On Mac with Firefox: The use of any of them freezes Firefox.
Other combinations we tried:
- On PC with Firefox: All three of them paste text WITH formatting.
- On Mac with Safari: None of the fckEditor options display at all,
which is expected behavior according to Magnolia documentation, if I
am not mistaken.
For our client to port content from their old, static website to the
new, Magnolia-based website, we came up with the following workarounds:
- On PC: Use Internet Explorer. Paste text into an empty Notepad
document first, then copy again, and then paste into Magnolia.
- On Mac: Use Firefox to open Magnolia. Use Safari to open the old,
static website. Copying from Safari (but not from Firefox) and
pasting into Firefox (without the use of the fckEditor buttons) seems
to work.
While the Mac workaround is OK, the PC workaround really seems
unacceptable to me...
Am I missing something? Let me know if you think I should submit this
to Jira.

ps This might be the same problem that Ben Brock ran into and
described in the post thread with the subject line "Ideal method for
HTML controlType".
fyi With Magnolia 2.1.3, on Mac with Firefox, I get error messages
about my security settings not letting Magnolia directly paste stuff.
With the first paste button, it tells me to use Ctrl+V. With the
other two paste buttons, it offers a text box in a popup window into
which I can paste the text. With Magnolia 2.1.3, on PC with IE, the
three paste buttons work as expected.
At the moment, I don't have a Magnolia 2.1.5 instance, in which I
could run the same tests.
