Thank you Simon,

I remembered going through that specific part of the tutorial a while ago
and then giving up because I couldn't find the SiteManager examples (which I
subsequently found is not part of the Community Edition I'm using). I will
use the properties of the samples given and see how it goes. It's a good
thing that you warned me about the restart of Magnolia. As you say, I might
have done it correctly and not seen the new dialog / paragraph.

After reinstalling (unzipping in my case) Magnolia, I've got the settings
standard again (i.e. not having changed the configuration of the public
instance). Now when I hit the URL ...localhost:8080/magnoliaPublic I get the
default features page as expected and a link to my page at the bottom left
(compliments of the cmsu:simpleNavigation tag on the template). Problem is
that when I try the link I get a error message that the requested resource
is not available. In the Tomcat log messages I see that the resource is in
fact my page. I guess somewhere I got the naming wrong or something.

Will investigate further and try to sort this out before I try the creation
of own paragraphs.

Thanks again for your (and all the others' help)

Johan

PS. And sorry for not checking the documentation again. As they say, if all
else fails, read the #$%^& manual!

properties

Hi Johan,

There's information on creating dialogs and accessing page properties
on the documentation site I sent previously, but you need to drill
down through all the pages to see the navigation for them. See
http://documentation.magnolia.info/docs/en/developer/templating/templateexam
ple/addmainbar/addparagraph.html

But I think the main thing you're missing at the moment is that you
need to restart magnolia (don't ask me why!) whenever you've added a
new paragraph/dialog before the system will pick them up. So you may
have created something correctly, but just can't see it yet.
