Well, I managed to stumble across the answer myself. If you go into the AdminCentral from the edit bar on the public instance, choose the Configuration tool from the Left Navigation Area, and open the server node using the + sign, one of the attributes at that level is named "admin". Changing it's value from true to false appears to have removed the admin bars from the display.
I don't know if this is something I messed up, or not. If not that step should probably be added to the Wiki.
