Magnolia Content Management adopts new GPLv3 license

Magnolia International Ltd., creator of the open-source
Enterprise Content Management System Magnolia, today
announced the transition of its Magnolia Community Edition
to GPLv3.
GPLv3 is the latest version of the world's most popular
open-source license, which has been released in June this
year by the Free Software Foundation.
Magnolia is the first JSR-170-based Content Management
System released under the GNU Public License Version 3
(GPLv3), and one of the first mainstream applications to
embrace the new license.
Releasing the Magnolia Community Edition under the
OSI-approved GPLv3 provides the Magnolia community with a
clear and modern license that grants the essential freedoms
of open-source software to its users and protects their
investment into the code base.
Magnolia provides its software in two editions:
* the Magnolia Community Edition is licensed under the GPLv3
and available as a free download from www.magnolia.info
* the Magnolia Enterprise Edition is a commercial product
with additional Enterprise functionality and support. It is
licensed under the Magnolia Network Agreement, which
provides the guarantees and protection enterprises expect.
