Looks like maven wants a higher version java. Specifically it's trying
to use Class.getSimpleName() which aparently isn't available in your
java version. I can't find a definitive resource on the minimum version
java for maven, but try it with 1.5 or better.

java.lang.NoSuchMethod error from Maven.
What am I doing wrong?
