A small update:
It seems that CONFIG_NO_HZ is broken on UML. :-(

CONFIG_NO_HZ + CONFIG_SLAB: works
CONFIG_NO_HZ + CONFIG_SLAB + your patch: broken
CONFIG_NO_HZ + CONFIG_SLUB: broken
