I bet it does. I haven't tried running on an older host, but it's
hard to see how the TLS stuff can work without thread_area support on
the host.
That being said, it would be nice to see if it can be emulated
somehow. It's always been nice for the UML version to be uncoupled
from the host version, and the TLS stuff breaks that somewhat.
