For one thing, you starting by complaining about a hang on boot after
mounting the root filesystem, not an inability to find it.
Second, this is saying that the root filesystem and swap file aren't
there (err 2 is ENOENT):

Are saying that applying grsecurity to UML is causing the host to
somehow hide your root filesystem?
