In the host system, make a chroot to the lenny filesystem mounted as loop. Create a new user with the following command: 1) useradd buddy -m -G users, root -s /bin/bash 2) passwd buddy
Now, exit from the chroot, umount the loop file and boot UML again. Instead of logging in as root, try as buddy now. You will prompted for the buddy password. Once you are logged in, you may use "su" to become root, and insert the password you set up at step 14. I am wandering why this happens!!! I'ts very strange. let me know if you solve this problem.
