Hi, unfortunately this is not the case when it comes to HDInsight (HDP on Azure PaaS). Blueprints as far as I know are usable only for cluster creation, right? HDInsight does not allow the creation of a cluster other than through the control panel or powershell/bash scripts using their REST APIs, presumably they have a set of blueprints they use for their predefined cluster types (Hadoop cluster, Spark cluster, HBase cluster etc)
For this reason, there exists the possibility to use a “Script Action”, a bash script executed after the cluster creation, before the finalization of the installation. For example, this script https://hdiconfigactions.blob.core.windows.net/linuxhueconfigactionv02/install-hue-uber-v02.sh allows the installation of Hue and it uses ambari’s configs.sh and the REST APIs. So, that’s the reason I wanted to fully script the installation of Hive Interactive, maybe get a pointer as to where is scripted in the Ambari source and port it to an HDInsight Script.
