The type for a timestamp in Avro IDL is not specified in the manual<https://avro.apache.org/docs/1.8.1/idl.html>. I discovered that timestamp_ms gives millisecond precision. I am unaware of an IDL type for microsecond precision. I am posting this information to help other people use timestamps in IDL.
