Ken Tam, one of the PMC members has started some development work in the beehive svn sandbox for controls. If you have ideas for the 2.0 planning, you can discuss on this list, enter enhancements in JIRA, and take a look at the beehive WishList wiki page. I fully expect that there will be an intermediate release. There are approximately 80 resolved JIRA issues, some that include enhancements and minor feature work.
