Thanks for the info.  I did just check the Configuration on both and they are 
mostly identical, and I saw under the couchDB section that file_compression has 
snappy set for both CouchDB installs.  Also, I *think* that both installs came 
from the same download of the setup package.  

Is there any way to verify that snappy did not load correctly and is causing 
the issue?
