What features from Kinto are you looking for specifically in CouchDB? As far as your requirements for a “real-time” (I assume soft real-time) sync database that uses JSON, CouchDB is already all that. Project Thali makes an effort to make the JS-re-implementation of CouchDB named PouchDB into an IoT compatible thing: http://thaliproject.org ?
