Can't create Mango Index

I'm trying to create a text index and seem to be doing something wrong.

I've Fauxton and HTTP: { "index": {}, "type": "text" }

When I try Fauxton, I get "! text" at the top of the screen. When I try
http, I get a 503 error and a header that says service unavailable, reason:
text.

Any suggestions?

I can create a json Mango index.
