I am facing similar issue. As my understanding goes this is not because of what is configured in in hive plugin. Rather because what is stored in hive metastore for location property. (hdfs://<namespace>>/user/hive/warehouse).
I believe drill only supports only <namenode >: <port> format. Can anyone help to find fix for this.
