I think the default working directory should be the projectDir, as it is
for junit tests. You should also be able to configure the working
directory for testng tests.
I've added http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GRADLE-806 and
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GRADLE-807 to fix these.
