It seems to me that repository information should by default live in the
user's home directory. I don't think it should be up to a gradle script
to
define repositories.
The problem with user configuration is that if a developer makes changes
it might work on his machine, but fail on other machines that have a
different user configuration.
Gradle should definitely allow what you want, but by default it should
only use the configuration in the build scripts of the project.
