Hi Russel Yes, cache management is an important issue. This is why we're spending so much of our time on making it better.
I think size-limiting the cache would be a nice feature, using some sort of LRU algorithm. I've added http://issues.gradle.org/browse/GRADLE-1908 for this improvement.
