You can check out and build the source code from the Github repos:

The branch for the 1.6.0 build is "staging/1.6.0". Documentation for
building the 1.5.5 version can be found, here:
https://guacamole.apache.org/doc/gug/installing-guacamole.html
There may be some minor differences with respect to dependencies and
the build process (e.g. freerdp3 vs. freerdp2), but the process has
not changed significantly.
