I just added note on loopback to the getting started: http://hbase.apache.org/book.html#quickstart I don't want to clutter the getting started w/ a long list of prereqs that actually are not needed putting up hbase in standalone mode; e.g. you don't need to make sure ssh to localhost is working when doing standalone.
