Thanks for the response Elliott, but I'm not sure how to use it. I tried adding the following:
<property> <name>hbase.metrics.showTableName</name> <value>false</value> </property> to hbase-site.xml and then tried hbase.metrics.showTableName=false in hadoop-metrics.properties, but the metrics continue to show up. Could you please shed light on how to properly use your advice?
