How to add a new function to hplsql?

Hi,

We  just wrote some code to implement trim("stringname", "pattern") on hive.
However. It gives error when we access this function from a HPLSQL script. 

Please pointers to documentation on how  to add this function to HPLSQL
would be appreciated.
