My current stack is
Hive 3.1.1
Hadoop 3.1.1
and my metadata is on Oracle
Oracle Database 12c Enterprise Edition Release 12.2.0.1.0
I went through a manual upgrade of metadata by running the scripts in this
order
3.1.0-to-3.2.0
3.2.0-to-4.0.0-alpha-1
4.0.0-alpha-1-to-4.0.0-alpha-2
4.0.0-alpha-2-to-4.0.0-beta-1
4.0.0-beta-1-to-4.0.0
my version table shows
select * from version;
VER_ID
----------
SCHEMA_VERSION
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VERSION_COMMENT
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1
4.0.0
Hive release version 4.0.0
But when I try the to connect to metastore,
*$HIVE_HOME/bin/hive --service metastore &*
I get error
Exception in thread "main" MetaException(message:*Version information not
found in metastore*.)
at
org.apache.hadoop.hive.metastore.RetryingHMSHandler.<init>(RetryingHMSHandler.java:62)
Anu ideas?
