afaik if you are doing something on a Load Balancer which balances based on
ip address then you need something like this.Other reasons are possibly
something like a website that uses geo-location to determine for e.g. your
country from your ip address and then has functional changes depending on
your country.
Ultimately if your application stack relies on IP address in any way , you
need it , otherwise you dont.
