I'm running a set of "apples-to-apples" tests against a pair of J2EE servers and then against Tomcat.
Getting great information back from JMeter, but one thing I don't really know how to interpret are the "idle time"s reported by JMeter. Can anyone just speak a little about what it means when the idle time is 0 vs non-zero? Docs say that 0 idle time is the usual case. I'm seeing 0 for most J2EE tests, and mostly non-zero with Tomcat. The Tomcat numbers creep up with the number of threads, but whereas J2EE tests start to fail with many threads, Tomcat ultimately finishes them. So, is this JMeter idling waiting on the server? Something else? Any insight appreciated. -Colin
