no, in that case, you can rid out Karaf and install pax-web directly on
top of Equinox (I would be sad if you do that, but it should work ;)).

actually, it's the opposite: karaf can use equinox as OSGi framework
(you just have to change in etc/config.properties from felix to
equinox). Once done, you can install the war feature and you will be
able to deploy wabs in Karaf.
