Hi, I can confirm that Karaf 4.4.4 works with Java 8 (without a rebuild).

If you need JDK17, you have to upgrade to Karaf 4.3.x or 4.4.x (even better). Karaf 4.5.0 will be released soon with additional JDK 20 & 21 support.
