I also work with OS X and Firefox.
For me it works with this Letter without any problem.

But, if you like zu edit the sitetree.xml try to subsitute æ with æ

It seems everything is using UTF-8 and I tried adding the text
using Firefox on Mac OS X - the primary "content editor"
and also Firefox running on Windows 2000
I also tried using EMACS directly on the XML files, to no use :-(
Please tell me what I am doing wrong
