What's the best version of tomcat to use with Lenya 2.0?
We're running Lenya with Tomcat 6.0.14 for about half a year now, and
didn't notice any problems. IMO the only reason to choose an earlier
version is compatibility with Java 1.4.
Also, the doc in the tar archive says to use tomcat 5.5.20 or later,
while the doc on the Lenya web site says to use 5.0.28. ? The file is
INSTALL-SRC.txt and the URL in question is http://lenya.apache.org/
docs/2_0_x/installation/source_version.html
I don't think there's much difference, but when in doubt I'd always use
the more recent versin.
Aside from the relative-untestedness of hanging Lenya 2.0 off of Tomcat,
are there other pluses or minuses to using a standalone (built in jetty)
or tomcat configuration of Lenya 2.0?
IMO Tomcat is easier to manage in a production environment, and SSL with
mod_proxy_ajp is more straightforward.
Also, this is to become a very-production Lenya install. Should I be
worried that this is still 2.0 and not 2.0.x? Often "dot oh" releases
are a little more buggy than their minor release counterparts.
2.0.1 is ready (it's already tagged, you might want to browse the SVN
web interface). The only reason it hasn't been released yet is that
we're currently migrating the website to Lenya and therefore it's
kind-of freezed.
