I got it to run eventually after fiddling with backend/solr.php and also
playing around a lot with the things listed here:

http://wiki.apache.org/solr/AnalyzersTokenizersTokenFilters

I can't remember what exactly did the trick. After a couple of months,
the client decided to remove the search functionality altogether, and I
was glad to do it, since solr, jetty or something else in that stack
randomly stopped working about once a week, which led to a couple of
not-so-happy messages. Unfortunately, I don't have the files lying
around any more. I thought I wrote down the solution somewhere, but
apparently not :-(

Anyways, good luck getting it to work!
