Hi Dave and others, there is now a proper example of deploying an unmanaged extension into the root URL space to the Neo4j Server, see http://components.neo4j.org/neo4j-examples/snapshot/ and http://docs.neo4j.org/chunked/snapshot/server-unmanaged-extensions.html in the reference manual.
