Hi Mike, Neo4j's default APIs are all Java. Have a look at the Neo4j tutorial here:
https://github.com/jimwebber/neo4j-tutorial It will take you from the core API right the way through indexing, traversers, Cypher, and into the REST API should you want to go that far up the stack. And it's already configured to use the latest milestone - you should be up and running in a few minutes once you've cloned the git repository.
