The optional components are designed, as such to extend other Eclipse tools. For example, the AJDT is not part of the "Eclipse IDE for Java developers" bundle, so naturally you won't be able to install the "Maven Integration for AJDT" feature from m2eclipse update site. I hope that for most features it should be possible easily guess what doesn't have to be installed simply using the common sense.

Please see more details about pre-requirements on the wiki at http://docs.codehaus.org/display/M2ECLIPSE/Installation+Requirements

I have made a fresh install of Eclipse IDE for Java Developers (85 MB) Version: 3.4.1 on Vista 32 bit.

In the package explorer I have added:

http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/update/

I have then installed Maven Integration which went fine. But when I try to
install either:

Maven Optional Components
or
Maven Project Configurators

I get the error "Cannot complete the request". I can then choose to open a
wizard which shows various packages that I can try to uncheck until the
error disappears.

Is this how Maven is supposed to be installed?
