The link provided after the issue report did not work (https://issues.sonatype.org/browse/PR-61). I got "PERSMISSION VIOLATION" error page. I regret I could not see what information were submitted. For now you can get M2E 0.97 from http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/update-dev/ . This site currently has the same build as the main update site.
