"Mining of Massive Data Sets" A must-read for any Mahout user. It's got some basic intro to Hadoop, and recipes for common stuff like joins. It sketches how to do all sorts of data mining in Hadoop. It doesn't get into nitty-gritty, but covers a lot of ground clearly and consistently.
