I hate debian *grrr* Debian is pretty good once it's set up. I had to do a full reinstall today (bad ram, gaga all over the HD), and the basic install is, frankly, a pain in the ass. Why they don't borrow tools from Stormix or Mandrake is beyond me. Now that I have a completely fresh env., I get to retry to see if I can reproduce these issues.
