I think you may be seeing the same problem as Tarjei was. Dynamic
properties were never totally finished and can cause segfaults under
certain circumstances (which I think have to do with the listing
objects, but it doesn't seem to be limited to that).

You could try the patch I send Tarjei through the mailinglist, or the
fix as it is in CVS.

That could very easily be an entirely different problem. I'm not
particularly proud to say it, but the fact is we've had a number of
serious problems after 1.2.5 and we're now finally at the point whare we
see a real decline. Not everything is solved, but it's not as bad as it
used to be.
