Hello Midgard Community.

You are just reading the release notes to the next RC vor Midgard
1.4.3. Upload to the Midgard Website [1] is already done. This is the
last RC for 1.4.3 to confirm that all bugfixes are working correctly.

RedHat and Debian Packages will not be created for the RC 2.

Changes since RC-1 include:
- Fixes for the often-occuring SegFaults discovered by Piotras and Nico
  Kaiser
- More fixes to the default parameters of the packages, for "standard"
installations the defaults should work now every time
- Parser fix for acciociative Arrays in HTML-Mode is confirmed to work
and is now included in the distribution.
- Confirmed that the RC-2 works with PHP 4.2.x on a Debian unstable box.

Changes from 1.4.3-RC-1
- lots and lots of bugfixes
- A new parser that resides in midgard-lib and works for everything
- New data packages with Asgard 1.4.2
- Default Parameters that should maximize backwards-compatibility for
all parts of the Midgard Framework.

This release does _not_ include:

- mod_midgard-preparser, since there is at lease one blocking bug in it

Please test this release as far as it is possible and report any bugs
at [2]. Note, that Midgard is currently in feature freeze until all
major open bugs are fixed, so if you have any feature requests, you can
file them, but I won't gurantee you how long it will take to get them
done. Contributions are welcome of course. If there is no blocker in
the current code, I will officially (this time really) release 1.4.3
next week.

Known bugs:

- Repligard's CDATA Encoding (current default) fails, when texts contain
the element ]]> and there are problems in the binary-safe mode of
  Repligard (Bug #73)

These bugs will not be solved in 1.4.3 because rather extensive work
seems to be neccessary to solve these. But we do what we can.

Bugtesting Request:

The more people test this release the better. Please drop me [3] a
short mail even if you experience _no_ problems with the current
release so that I can get a rough idea about 1.4.3's stability.

So long everybody, have fun with testing ;-)

Live long and prosper!
