Hi, I sent this message http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=midgard-user&w=2&r=1&s=gmane&q=b about http://gmane.org/, the mailing list archiver accessible via a news client.
Somebody (the problem with gmane is indeed anybody can add a mailinglist) added midgard-user (and midgard-dev) to gmane: http://news.gmane.org/thread.php?group=gmane.comp.web.midgard.user news://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.web.midgard.user I do not know who has subscribed midgard-user and midgard-developer to the system, but I see a problem: I think the mail addresses should be masked, because this way the newsgroup can be crawled by spammers: see http://gmane.org/tmda.php (This problem also exists at http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=midgard-user&r=1&w=2, but not at http://www.geocrawler.com/lists/3/Web/527/0/ and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/midgard-user/ where the mail addresses are hidden or encrypted). There is however a setting at Gmane (see again http://gmane.org/tmda.php), so that e.g. my mail address looks like: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I resubmitted Midgard-user at http://gmane.org/subscribe.php today, with this comment: "This mailing list has been added to the gmane archive, but I feel that mail addresses should be masked for gmane.comp.web.midgard.user and for gmane.comp.web.midgard.devel. It was not announced at the mailing list itself, so I think it's an individual enthousiast's initiative. Could you post your response to gmane.comp.web.midgard.user ?"
