I just thought I would try http://myhost:8101/admin, and there it was! But this is not mentioned in the SuSE readme. Oh if I could only get back the time I wasted on this - it was working from the start!

which is as it should be. But when I connect to http://myhost or http://myhost:8101 (or 8102 or 8099) in all cases I get the SuSE test page. So I have no errors that I can investigate.
To get any information on midgard or mysql you have to turn on logging. For mod_midgard you can change LogLevel to debug in httpd.conf
