Yes but midgard propably send the header "text/html" when serving the page, add code-init element with <?php header('Content-type: text/css'); ?> to the page.
I see... but on the other hand..I use such css linking with all of my Midgard sites and it works :-)
For most browsers yes, I however noticed once when did that (usually I put CSS to style element) that mozillas JS console had warnings that the CSS loaded had content-type of text/html.
