Greetings! This is a preliminary announce for East European Midgard developers meeting which will be held in Poland on Friday afternoon, August, 8th. This is starting date, the meeting can be extended for more days over weekend of Aug, 9th-10th.
The meeting will be held in Lodz, an old city in the center of Poland. http://www.lonelyplanet.com/mapshells/europe/poland/poland.htm Some information about Lodz can be found at http://www.uml.lodz.pl/wersja_angielska/indeksik.php3?zapytanie=6 Lodz is situated around 100km to West from Warsaw, Poland's capital city, and is easily accessible by buses and trains within 2 hours. If anyone is going to drive from any other direction, please let us know and we will find the best connection. Also we would like to know what time is convenient to everyone to let you know about any train or buses schedules. Piotr Pokora will be a main local contact. Ask him -- and preferrably dev@ -- about any questions you have regarding the meeting place. Ask dev@ on general questions about the meeting. The meeting will be dedicated mostly to refactoring of Midgard core and scheduling of the refactoring work between interested parties. However, as past experience shows, Midgard Meetings are great chance to meet developers and users together and to solve existing practical problems, often resulting in improved code or even new Midgard releases. We tried to find best places in city center to be convenient accomodation to everyone. So far, we have three options: 1. Quite nice hotel with 2-person rooms 45,- EUR per room (breakfest included) Conference room with additional payments 5 minutes from center by train or by bus 2. Youth hostel with 2-3 persons room 16,- EUR per 2-persons room (no breakfest) No bathrooms in room, only public bathrooms on a floor. Big common room (open for every one) 1 minute from center by walk :) 3. "Ibis" hotel with 40,- EUR room with air conditioning. Cinema, internet caffe , banks, shops etc etc. One inconvenience - one huge bed in a room. Center of city's center. 0.00 sec by walk :) Comments from Piotr Pokora: ------------------------------------------------------------------ Youth Hostel is the best if you look at price , but I do not know how comfortable places everyone likes. I suppose Polish Youth Hostel is not so much comfortable as these in EU, but trust me, I slept 10 years ago in one of Youth Hostel and I am still alive. :) At Friday , and propably at Saturday we may meet at our office to have a talk. We do not have any conferrence room , but we have one which could be good for up to 6 persons I think. There is no problem with internet connection. I do not bother about food , cause there are pleeeeeeeenty of pubs and restaurants here on one street , so everyone may eat very delicious and big lunch for about 3-4 Euro. Big sandwich or burger or beer costs about 1 Euro. Our office is in city's center, three crossing from Youth Hostel. Bus and train station is very close to center, so there is no need to worry about public transport.
