Will these Red Hat RPMs work on Mandrake 8.1? I am getting
> rpm -i midgard-lib-1.5.0-1.i386.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
expat >= 1.95.4 is needed by midgard-lib-1.5.0-1
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.3) is needed by midgard-lib-1.5.0-1
mysql-server >= 3.23.54 is needed by midgard-lib-1.5.0-1
I verified that I have the correct versions of all the dependencies
installed (in the case of expat I just installed the latest), but am
wondering if there are path issues. I see in the FAQ references to
libraries in /usr/local/lib, but on my Mandrake most stuff appears to be
in /usr/lib.
Linux systems administration is not my strong suit, apologies for what
may be very basic questions.
If Mandrake requires me to build from source (a task I am not
particularly comfortable with), can anyone recommend which is more
efficient: building from source, or starting over with Red Hat (assuming
a disposable machine?)
I'm looking to make a long term commitment to Midgard/Aegir as a content
management platform for a book I want to publish as a Web project first,
but the overhead is starting to concern me.
