Good morning Aussie :-)

The place to check such things is the Repligard schemafile:

For example, the author field is replicated:
    <link name="author" link="person" reverse="no"/>

It clearly states that is is a link.

But, the print field is not:

<field name="print" type="integer"/>

I do not know what happens if you try to modify the print,view and icon
fields (apart from making a new version of the schema) but if it is the
intended use of these fields to link to other midgard items than it
might be usefull. Personally I think it is a bad Idea.

Another suggestion is to use the extraN fields for this and equip them
with guid and not ids. Aegir has a functionality to modify the names of
the extraN fields for each sitegroup so that users can get help on what
to put where.

The last suggestion is ofcourse to use parameters.
