Oki. I'd still recommend the unix-maven-plugin as an improved version of
the deb though :)

Can you paste your pom.xml?
I've written most of the code in the deb plugin, but all my effort
on the packaging plugins go into the unix-maven-plugin[1] now so you
might want to use that instead. At least it would be much easier for
me to help you and fix bugs if you use that instead.
